Lead Forming
Mid America features a broad array of tooling and expertise for converting through-hole devices to SMD, offering various forming options. We leverage equipment and tooling from almost all major manufacturers to efficiently address a wide range of forming requirements.

Our final inspection
Every part inspected is part of our three stage inspection process to ensure product quality in exceeding EIA Standards. All components are taped to the EIA Standard RS486 unless otherwise specified.
Delivery
Normal turnaround time is 3 working days. When needed, we will provide same day services without any additional charge.
What is Lead Forming?
Lead forming is a crucial process in electronic manufacturing where the leads of components are shaped to fit into printed circuit board (PCB) mounting holes. This shaping is necessary because components usually have straight leads that must be bent or formed to ensure proper installation on the PCB. Lead forming can be done manually using tools like pliers, but this method can be slow and result in inconsistent shapes.
Advantages of Automated Lead Forming for High-Volume Production
Automated lead forming, however, offers a more efficient solution by using machines to quickly and accurately bend, cut, and trim leads. These machines are ideal for high-volume production, as they ensure precise and consistent lead shapes, which are essential for secure and reliable component mounting. Proper lead forming helps prevent connectivity issues and contributes to the overall reliability and efficiency of electronic devices.
